For the Summer 2024 term (8 weeks), we are thrilled to offer the following Human Rights Changemaker Internship Opportunities:

Asian Community and Cultural Center x Career Ladder Human Rights Changemaker Internship

About the Asian Community and Cultural Center

Mission: The Asian Community & Cultural Center supports and empowers all refugees and immigrants through programs and services and advances the sharing of Asian culture and other cultural heritages of our clients with the community at large.

Vision: Immigrants in Lincoln and surrounding areas will have access to the resources and support they need to lead better lives.

History: In 1992, organization began for the Asian Community and Cultural Center. Leaders in the community from multiple Asian backgrounds joined together, initially meeting in one another’s homes, to envision what the ACCC could become. They wanted to create a community space for education, welfare, recreation, and fellowship, to connect and share cultural heritage and promote the well-being of their peoples. They imagined that the Center would serve both long-term and recently arrived immigrants and refugees from Asian countries as well as native-born Asian Americans. These leaders joined forces with the Lincoln Interfaith Council which was providing support for recently arrived Vietnamese refugees. On October 1, 1994, the Center opened its doors at 140 S. 27th Street with bi-lingual Vietnamese speaking staff. In March 1998, ACCC became a 501 (C) (3) and has enjoyed broad community financial support.  Starting in 2006 the ACCC served as a hub for all recently arrived refugee communities in Lincoln. Now after over 25 years of service, many immigrants and refugees still see the Asian Center as “home” regardless of ethnic background and national origin.

All of the information is section is taken for the ACCC's website, which you can explore here.

About the Career Ladder Project

The Career Ladder Project is a really exciting initiative that’s happening in Lincoln to connect skilled immigrants and refugees to career pathways, digital resources, and a professional network. The Career Ladder Project is part of the New Americans Task Force, which is a network of public and private organizations and community members dedicated to supporting immigrants and refugees in Lincoln. The Asian Community and Cultural Center is part of the New Americans Task Force. This past summer, the New Americans Task Force was awarded a $175,000 grant from Google to work on the Career Ladder Project, and are looking to really ramp up their work in January, which is why they want two more interns on board.
